An employee at a Mandeville business who sold alcohol to a teenager during the police department's Juvenile Underage Drinking Enforcement operation could face a fine and jail time, and the store could have its liquor license revoked, according to information from the Mandeville Police Department.

Officers from the department's criminal patrol and criminal investigations division sent teenagers into 34 Mandeville businesses to attempt to buy alcohol on Friday and Monday, Lt. That employee, whose name was not immediately available, was charged with unlawful sales to persons under 21, Sticker said. The charge carries up to a $1,000 fine and a maximum of six months in jail upon conviction, he said. The store's owners also could their have license revoked, he said.

Sticker said the police department was pleased that only one business sold alcohol to minors this year, compared to four business last year during the police department's same operation.
